November and Decemberrrr - What I've been up to

So I haven't posted for like... A month. However, I've found friends posting on blogspot and am wondering if there's a way I can link to the like on Livejournal.

Any help would be mucho appreciated. ^_^

So as usual I've been a busy bee and I have a shitload of work to do over the Christmas period which thankfully, I'm doing rather well with. Final year is like that however and it's something which annoys me. I wish I had the drive and confidence to do the things in second year that I've done in third. Still, I've had an active month or so and here are a few of the things I've been up to:

14th November - A CCC meeting! I guess that anybody who has been to these know how motivated you feel when you walk out at the end. Six hundred people in a room and speakers who explain climate change in a way that somehow makes sense... And who put arguments across which make sense. Climate change seems less scary when you're amongst people who understand to an extent what's going on and who want to make changes. You feel less like you're standing looking up at a mountain and more like you've started to climb it.

16th - 18th November - Shared Planet! Yeah, it was Ok... Though less inspiring than I'd hoped and I felt a bit alienated at times. Don't get me wrong, it's lovely and friendly, but I didn't feel like I fitted in. Perhaps because so many people seemed to come from a different pedigree to me, or maybe because there didn't seem to be any people from universities like mine... Most seemed to be from the bigger more prestigious institutions. I wasn't especially moved by the speakers, with the exception of the Burmese lady who was talking about her country. However, despite the few complaints I had about Shared Planet, I did enjoy it and loved the workshops they had to offer. I think then, a three out of five.

29th November - KUSU AGM! No... Really... What a dire turn out. As much as I'm considering running next year, it is entirely for the purpose of running effective campaigns and whatnot... But despite there being lectures going on, we had less than one hundred out of nineteen thousand turn up. That's depressing, no?

6th December - Black Gold screening in CSAIPE! I was worried nobody would turn up, but it went Ok! And we even got some people from the trade justice movement to talk. I hope to organise another next year, perhaps focussing on environmental justice.

8th December - Climate change demo and after party at the Synergy Centre! It was pissing ice, but around six thousand people still marched to pressurise the government in to taking responsibility for climate change. Do I believe in people power? Why yes I do and I plan to write about that some time in the future. The Synergy Centre was sweet as always.

9th December - A nice quiet 24th birthday for me and an opportunity to rest without the guilt that I have to be studying.

12th December - Work Xmas dinner! We went to Monty's Nepalese restaurant (and you're probably questioning, as I did how Nepali a guy called 'Monty' can be) and I just so happened to be the token white girl! The food was great and we played tiddlywinks frogs, or whatever it was called.
